Comfort Food, Fat As Fuel + A DIY Pumpkin For The Minimalist
This week includes a look into the world of float therapy, birth control's link to depression, comfort food recipes that will cause immediate hunger pangs and my favorite indie magazine that is giving us all permission to wear no pants...at home.
THE PILL | Is turning out to do more harm than we ever could have anticipated. Its latest link is to depression. Do your research and make an informed decision for yourself….do not let anyone make that decision for you.
FLOAT THERAPY FOR STRESS | And so much more. I tried it for the first time this week and can't speak enough of the stress-relieving and pain-reducing benefits that I experienced. "Don’t have anything scheduled following your float. You are going to be one mellow cat for at least a day or two. Plan on comfy clothes and long weekend of lounging."
FAT AS FUEL | "Most people wake up and either make tea, or coffee. I chug a glass of water and go straight for the coconut butter jar." A case for eating more fat, and lots of it. Sidenote: For a quick need-something-in-my-stomach-now situation, I scoop coconut oil with almond butter and let it melt in my mouth.
FOOD-TECH | The Soylent "meal replacement" bar sickness + failure + how Silicon Valley is going a little too far with the savvy packaged foods. "Most humans are happy to eat real food, and crave it in its most natural form. Why would you disrupt that?"
A PUMPKIN FOR THE MINIMALIST | If you're down to the wire on last-minute Halloween decor and/or consider yourself a minimalist, then this DIY Pumpkin might just be for you.
PASS THE KOMBUCHA | Five things you may not know about this fizzy, probiotic, gut-friendly drink.
50 SHADES OF RED | Yep, we're talking about your period.
DON'T WEAR THE PANTS | Chickpea Magazine's Fall Issue: Coming Home is now available. Peep it here and then snag your digital or print copy here. So many good things inside! Including an ode to the best reason to stay at home: you don't have to wear pants.
Here's to another gorgeous fall weekend and hoping that you get to sleep in on Sunday and spend the day lounging around sans pants.
xx be well,
