DIY Your Heart Out. And Let's Get To Grilling, Shall We?

DIY Your Heart Out

I have a spare room in my semi-new apartment that begs to be functional and filled with cheerful art and decor as opposed to the piles of still unpacked boxes and empty space that is currently occupying it. So in light of making this my personal summer project, I became inspired by a few other DIY-style projects that may interest you. Chocolate bark included.

Speaking of bare space and empty walls, here's a few clever ways to create a 3-D gallery wall.

I just love that welded letter holder, those gorgeous sundial mirrors and this extremely fun and festive pineapple wallpaper.

Show your skin some love and prep it for exposure to sunny and sandy days ahead. Here are few natural beauty DIYS for making your own lotion bar, yogurt face mask and grapefruit exfoliator.

Take a cue from Food52 and make a #NotSadDeskLunch. Random leftovers are made better in this Leftover-Only Bagel and the magic of avocado, watercress and pineapple come together in this gorgeous, super tasty, anti-sad salad. And of course, make your own Everyday Avocado Dressing, because hello beautiful (and high fives to only requiring three ingredients).

Oh, and this is certainly not a sad PB&J. I always traded my ham & cheese sammies for a PB&J sandwich, any day of the week.

That's a lot of DIY-ing. But we're not quite done yet, because chocolate bark. You must make your own chocolate bark. It makes going to your freezer way more fun.

The version that you see above a re-make that I created by using this Dark Chocolate Beauty Bark recipe as inspiration. And it did not disappoint. I added in melted coconut oil with the melted dark chocolate and then finished off with a few flecks of sea salt before popping it into the freezer to set. Life changing.

You can also give this Raspberry Almond Salted Chocolate Bark a whirl or make a batch of this beautiful Homemade Chocolate Bark with goji berries and pistachios, courtesy of a dear friend over at Glowing Within.

Ok, now let's get to grilling. Shall we? After all, we are getting into the thick of grilling season and must have some clever recipes in mind beyond the traditional burgers on buns.

I wouldn't say that the word miso comes to mind when you think about grilling, but these Miso Glazed Veggie Kebabs will surely make you change your mind. Your tongue will be screaming umami.

Impress your guests with Mexican Street Style Grilled Corn. Corn that's slightly charred is a thousand times better than regular corn. By the way, who eats corn from a can anymore?

Yes, you can even grill your avocados. And pineapples...to create Grilled Pineapple Jalapeño Margaritas.

Summer, you are lookin' real good.
