NYC Locale

Hello, free smoothies. This Friday, May 2, Juice Press will be offering a free smoothie with a purchase of any full-size juice. I recommend their Watermelon or Miracle Mylk juice paired with the Cactus Cooler smoothie. Note: There's a catch...check out Well + Good for details.

A city so nice, they named it twice. In honor of National Poetry Month, The New York Times asked readers to submit a haiku about living in NYC while keeping the following subjects in mind:  the island, strangers, solitude, commuting, 6 AM, and kindness. There were an overwhelming amount of responses, and it's certainly worth a read-through. My personal favorites...

If build and destroy

Are music notes, our island

Is a symphony. - Laura Seigle, 43, Manhattan

The New Yorker is

Not kind, they say. I say, he

Just left it at home. - Flor Arley Hodge, 15, Bronx

Union Square Market

Blueberries for ten dollars

New York City blues - Sharon Cohen, 33, Dallas

Peeling The Layers

"While the occasional plunging neckline or bold backless dress certainly proves to be a wardrobe hero, the art of subtle elegance — and leaving things to the imagination — is not (and should not be) lost amongst the noise of today’s fast fashion." A beautiful post from Darling Magazine on Finding Modesty When Skin Is In

And speaking of peeling layers, it's time to do the same for your skin to show of that spring glow. I am 100% hooked on these body scrubs by Wildly American. Scents include Apple Pie,  Biscotti (to-die-for), Black Raspberry Vanilla, Coconut, and Cucumeber Milk. My wish for the world would be for everyone to experience a jar of these, at least once in their lifetime.

Recipe Roundup

And last but not least, for hitting all of your delicious weak spots...

Banana Crunch Parfait, reminiscent of the Crunola parfait that I pair with my pot of green tea nearly every other morning.

Seriously Stuffed Sweet Potato with spicy miso tahini dressing. Ow ow.

Coconut Cookie Butter Bars, which I will be making for this weekend's NYC Bake Sale (at the Brooklyn Flea) in Support of No Kid Hungry. Come out on Saturday morning & check out some tasty treats with all proceeds going towards an amazing cause in support of ending childhood hunger.

Cheers, it's MAY!
