Juice Press has opened yet another new downtown shop (in an effort to completely take over Manhattan) close to the Refinery 29 offices. For this special and commemorative evening, they've teamed up and created the "R29 Reboot" filled with all of those healthy fats, protein and delicious nutrients. Come sip and splurge this evening from 6:30-8:30pm at the new TriBeCa digs located at 415 Greenwich Street. Can't make it? Try it for yourself at home:
1 handful coconut meat
9 fl oz fresh almond milk
1 tbsp raw honey (or to taste)
1 tsp matcha powder
1 handful of ice (optional, or use if using unfrozen banana)
Hundred Acres has been unveiling a few of their spring cocktails via Instagram (@hundredacresnyc), all of which you should be adding to your spring hitlist. Pick your poison, order their gooey cinnamon rolls and call it day well spent at 38 MacDougal Street.
From left to right:
Spring Awakening, Cacahaca Verde (cilantro jalapeno, cachaca and pineapple), Dia de Los Muertos (strawberry rhubarb margarita), Hampton Shore Bloody Mary (organic meyer lemon vodka, clam juice, shucked oyster)
Rise & Shine
We spend over one third of our collective time with our faces planted directly on our pillows...and then they suddenly seem a whole lot more important. Having something to support our neck during sleep is one thing, but having a pillow-with-a-purpose that can help with things like aging, acne, bacteria and everything in between is quite another thing.
Make your morning routine seamless by batching up these five ingredient quinoa breakfast pots that you can easily prepare the night before, toss in your bag in the morning and be on your way. Another option/jar of beauty? These raspberry chia overnight oats which have almond butter for that morning protein fix.
For those of you that can rise early with no problem, enjoy those morning oats with a side of your favorite tear or cup of joe in these adorably awesome surprise reveal hand painted mugs. Just as perfect for weekend mornings as well. Another Etsy win.
Protect Your Femininity
Hormones. It's a love/hate relationship that seems to take us on a rollercoaster ride from one month to the next. They control everything from appetite, mood, sleep, sex, digestion, and immunity...and it's quite possible that you could be wreaking havoc on your hormones in ways that can easily be controlled. A short list of culprits? Birth control, poor sleep habits, too much sugar, overexercising, processed soy, skipping meals, and toxic environments.
There are ways in which you can contribute to hormone health, such as increasing your intake of important vitamins & supplements as well as noshing on whole foods such as lentils, beans, nuts, and seeds, avoiding refined foods/added sugar, grabbing for more fruits & veggies, eating foods with high amounts of omega 3s (eggs, flax, hemp), using cold pressed seed oils instead of butter and minimizing your intake of fried foods, processed soy and saturated fats from meat and dairy.
What Should I Get Her?
Still hung up on what to get mom for Mother's Day? Or maybe you haven't even gotten there yet? If pampering is something that she doesn't quite do enough of for herself, consider a spa treatment or something along the lines of this complete nature treatment that she can do in the comfort of her own home. Or, pick and choose items that may suit her best. Illuminating rose collagen face serum, lemon coffee body scrub and the morrocan mint tea silt purifier scream one heck of an at-home spa day to me.
Tis the season for weddings. Surprise her (or the couple) with a gorgeous gift that may not be one they even considered. From dessert plates to prosecco glasses, vintage copper saucepans to DIY and oyster shucking kits, there's a gem waiting to be unwrapped.
