NYC Locale: Spooks And The City
New Yorkers know how to make the most of limited space, especially when it comes time to decorate around the holidays. One perk of living on the Upper East Side (or of course in the West Village) is the gorgeous walk-up and brownstone buildings where owners really tap into their creative side this time of year. I've captured a few photos as well as others' to give you a peek into what's it's like venturing through the city around Halloween.
It may not be what those of us that grew up in the suburbs are used to, but if this decor gives me a nice laugh on my walk to the subway in the mornings, then I'll gladly take it.
Save The Pumpkins
....for the sole purpose of roasting all of the leftover seeds which make for a delicious snack. They taste just like popcorn, however they are loaded with iron, zinc and magnesium. To get yours to look and taste like the ones above, follow a simple recipe by Elise Museles of @kaleandchocolate: wash & dry the seeds completely and then then season with smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, sea salt and a touch of olive oil. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes, remove when browned around the edges, let cool then dig in.
Throw them on oatmeal for a savory or sweet crunch, mix them into a healthy trail mix, sprinkle on top of a bowl of soup or simply just enjoy them as they are.
Halloween Dogs of Instagram
"Sexy" Halloween costumes can step aside because dog costumes are so much more amusing. And when babies and small children happen to get involved, even better. Here are just a few of my favorites...

@lindsay_edge - for complete cuteness overload, documenting #LolaEdge and their dog, Ray.

And don't forget that pups deserve treats just as much as we do. Here are a few clever ("healthy") treats for your favorite furry friends.
Pumpkin Dog Treats, made only with pureed pumpkin, egg and flour.
Halloween Dog Bones that have flax seeds in them, so that dogs can get their omegas, too.
Peanut Butter & Banana Yogurt Smoothie Dog Bites because the obsession for anything peanut butter is felt and witnessed by dogs as well.
Here's to a festive, safe and fun weekend ahead.
Happy Thursday & be well!
